Why use this template
Kicking off a workflow and remembering to tell the team are two separate, forgettable steps. One key requests the configured GitHub Actions run and posts a Slack reminder to review it. Keep the Conductor Deck plugin connected on the Stream Deck computer because it sends the HTTP request. Before importing, choose the repository owner and name, a workflow file that declares workflow_dispatch on the default branch, the branch or tag to run, and any required workflow inputs. Use a fine-grained GitHub token with Actions write permission for that repository, or a classic token with repo scope. A successful dispatch response means GitHub accepted the request; check GitHub Actions for the run's current status before announcing completion.
Questions, answered
- No. "GitHub Actions Trigger" runs on Conductor Deck's visual canvas. Import it, then fill in each step's fields (a channel, a scene name, a message) right in the builder. No scripts to write.
- Importing it is free on any plan. The Pipedream integrations it uses are Pro features, so you need a Pro or Max plan to run it.
- A Conductor Deck account, a Stream Deck (or the in-app virtual deck), and the connected Conductor Deck plugin listed below. You connect Github, Slack inside the builder when you import, with no separate install. Set up Connected Conductor Deck plugin, GitHub token with Actions: write, GitHub repository owner and name, GitHub workflow file or ID, and GitHub branch or tag ref before importing, then confirm the exact HTTP fields in the builder.
- Absolutely. The template is a starting point. Add, remove, reorder, or reconfigure any step on the canvas after importing, then sync it to any Stream Deck button.
