Use cases
Send global hotkeys from Stream Deck
Trigger application shortcuts — such as mute/unmute in Zoom, play/pause in Spotify, or scene switch in your editing tool — from dedicated buttons.
Type reusable text blocks
Insert your bio, affiliate link, or standard chat greeting with a single button instead of typing it every time.
Control media playback
Map play, pause, next track, and volume to Stream Deck dials and keys for hands-free music control.
Simulate macro sequences
Replay multi-key shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+S) with one press, ideal for complex software that lacks native Stream Deck plugins.

Frequently asked questions
- Does this work when the target app is not focused?
- Yes. Keyboard actions simulate system-level keypresses, so the target application must simply be capable of receiving global shortcuts.
- Can I press modifier keys (Ctrl, Shift, Alt)?
- Yes. The Keyboard action supports combinations of Ctrl, Shift, Alt, and Meta (Cmd on Mac, Win on Windows).
- Will this interfere with my existing hotkeys?
- Only if the key combination already has a system-wide or app-level binding. You can pick unused shortcuts or remap your app first.
- Can I send special keys like Enter or Tab?
- Yes. Special keys such as Enter, Tab, Escape, Space, and arrow keys are supported alongside standard alphanumeric input.
- Is there a delay between keystrokes?
- Not by default — sequences fire instantly. If your app needs staggered input, add a Delay node between separate Keyboard actions.
